During our trip to Iceland, we had planned to stay in Siglo Hotel for one night, and although we did expect it to be great, the pictures don’t do justice to the experience we’ve had. The drive to get to Siglufjörður is unbelievable, and once you’re there, you might never want to leave. It was one of the few places we were able to feel 100% disconnected and away from the rest of the world.
The bedroom had a window bench with a great view of the harbor and was spacious and tastefully decorated. In fact, the whole hotel makes you feel cozy, and the large fireplace at the entrance surely does its job. However, the highlight of our night was, without any doubt, the outside hot pot with jaw-dropping views. We had it all for ourselves and stayed there until past midnight soaking up the scenery. It truly felt like a dream we couldn’t get enough of.
The front desk is open 24h, and you know what? The staff even suggested to call us to our room in case there were chances to spot the Northern Lights ( and we ended up seeing them!).
Certain places really get into your heart. Siglo Hotel was one of them.
