With the arrival of our first baby, we decided it was the perfect time to explore our city and discover how to travel as a new family of three. Picking a place to stay was not easy since during the last couple of years, Lisbon has witnessed an increasing number of top notch hotels – Palacio Ludovice being one of them. Its history and architecture, along with a priviledge location, made it the perfect choice for a first night out with our little one! She’s only three months and is already sleeping on a 5*!
We were greeted by a fantastic member of the staff who explained to us everything we needed to know about the history and construction of the building. It used to be the private residence of João Federico Ludovice, architect to King João V in the 18th century (you heard that right!). The gorgeous white and blue tiles are the original ones, and there’s even an old chapel inside this outstanding palace.
And then, we got to our room. What-a-view!! Our beautiful Lisbon was right there in front of us, no matter if we were lying in bed or taking a shower in the huge bathroom. You can expect elegant details and a high-quality level of hospitality – including a pillow menu and some afternoon treats delivered in the room.
We had lunch at its restaurant Federico which is located in a charming courtyard filled with a vertical garden. Delicious food, great wine, and what a romantic atmosphere! So, as a word of advice, book a table even if you’re not staying at Palacio Ludovice. You won’t be disappointed! They also have wine tastings for free on Wednesdays… could you ask for more?
Palacio Ludovice is definitely a winner in what concerns boutique hotels, and the breakfast is just another plus ( I mean, look at these pictures!). It is perfectly located, tucked between our favorite neighborhoods in town. And if you rather stay in and relax for the day, there’s an entire spa menu waiting and even the most charming gym.
I guess it’s safe to say Maria is becoming a very spoiled traveler.
