If you’re planning to visit Venice, you are probably overwhelmed by the number of hotels, b&b’s, Airbnb’s, and all the options that provide you a place to sleep of any kind. We definitely were! Also, I’m sure you’ll find it very hard to find a place that sits in a convenient location, with a cool design, and that doesn’t make you break the bank at the same time! We were seriously thinking about staying outside Venice, tired of seeing either old fashion interiors or prices that were simply ridiculous. That’s was until we found Palazzo Pianca!
It is located between the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio and the Grand Canal, just a few steps from St. Mark’s Square! Nevertheless, the street is super quiet and is not a major tourist magnet. The beautiful and classical Venetian building doesn’t look like a hotel from the outside. The sign was so small and discreet that we always felt like we were arriving home. That gave us a feeling of what it’s like to be a local, which we absolutely love.
The place is brand new, so everything was spotless. Our room was very stylish and minimalistic, with some modern pieces of design. On the other hand, it remains a charming old Palace, with high ceilings and stone balconies – can you imagine a more perfect combination?
Since there are no common spaces, you don’t get to see the staff very often – once again, this will make you forget that you’re actually in a hotel and that the stunning room you’re staying in is not your house. However, the staff was instantly responsive on Whatsapp, and Francesca was an incredible host, giving us all the tips and advice! We can’t thank her enough. Also, we fell in love with her dog – Charlie.
We haven’t mentioned that there’s a surprise waiting for you on the fifth floor. But we’ll let you figure out that one for yourselves. You can thank us later 🙂
