Some places stay with you forever — not just because of where they are, but because of how they make you feel. Our stay in Cape Town was exactly that, and it all started the moment we opened the door to our Airbnb.
After arriving from the cold, stepping into this home felt almost surreal. Warm air, golden light flooding the space, and that view — Lion’s Head standing proudly on one side, the Atlantic Ocean stretching endlessly on the other. It was one of those moments you don’t need to photograph because it etches itself straight into your memory.
This apartment’s location is truly spectacular. Waking up every morning to Lion’s Head and the sea felt like living inside a postcard. The light in the house changes throughout the day, creating an atmosphere demonstrating calm, beauty, and inspiration. It’s the kind of place where you slow down without even trying.
And then there was Maria. After such a long journey — and our first time traveling so far with our 2-year-old daughter — seeing her run happily through the house, laughing, exploring every corner, was everything. She felt at home instantly. That alone tells you how special this place is.
A huge part of this experience was Ashley, the host — and honestly, amazing doesn’t even fully cover it. From the very beginning, she was supportive, attentive, and incredibly kind. She helped us throughout our stay and even after we left Cape Town and traveled to other parts of South Africa. Knowing it was our first trip to Africa with a small child, Ashley made us feel safe, reassured, and genuinely cared for. That human touch made all the difference.
Practical details matter too — and this place truly delivers! It has a private parking right at the door, a massive plus in Cape Town, as well as a kitchen with absolutely everything we could possibly need – we even made soup for Maria.
This wasn’t just a place to sleep — it was a home. A home where we rested, cooked, watched the light change over the ocean, and created memories we’ll carry with us forever.
