Visiting Aldeia da Pedralva

We still remember coming here when the village seemed like a ghost town. The only reason people visited it was because of its popular Pizza restaurant – which still exists! It was heartbreaking to think about how the desertification has affected the area and to see all those abandoned houses. Thankfully, a group of investors has discovered the village and gave it a new life!

Pedralva went through a complex process of urban recovery, and nowadays you can actually stay in one of the lovely rehabilitated houses! They have kept some restored furniture and traditional features, trying to remain faithful to the rural environment.

From Sagres, it will take you around 20 minutes to reach Aldeia da Pedralva. It can be a great accommodation option, as you’ll be staying in a comfortable little house, away from it all! The village promises to deliver a unique experience, with many activities to fill your days and for you to get closer to nature. Moreover, it has a great location for surfing at the nearby Amado beach!

As we never spent the night, it’s hard to give you honest feedback about it – although we’ve heard wonderful things.  But if there’s one thing we know for sure is that the two restaurants in the village are definitely worth the trip!

While Pizza Pazza it’s famous for the good pizzas and quirky atmosphere, we must highlight the restaurant Sitio da Pedralva, where you can enjoy some fabulous Portuguese food in the most dreamy patio! Make sure you book your table before arriving, and the Pizza place only accepts cash!
