There’s something special about escaping without really going anywhere at all — and that’s exactly what we felt during our recent stay at The Verse, in São Bento.
We booked this little getaway to celebrate a special occasion — Tiago’s birthday — and even though we never left Lisbon, it truly felt like we had stepped into a different rhythm. We’ve always loved these kinds of escapes: staying in our own city, yet experiencing it with fresh eyes, as if we were visitors rediscovering it for the first time.

São Bento is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting neighbourhoods in Lisbon right now. It strikes that rare balance between trendiness and authenticity — a place where beautifully curated restaurants sit side by side with independent shops, all while maintaining a strong sense of local life. It still feels lived-in, genuine, and effortlessly cool.
The Verse fits perfectly into this setting. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a genuinely friendly and attentive team who made us feel instantly at home. There’s a stylish bar right at the entrance — the kind of spot that invites you to slow down, have a drink, and ease into the stay.

As for the apartments, they’re thoughtfully designed and fully equipped with everything you might need, whether you’re staying for just a night or settling in for a longer visit. The space feels both practical and cozy, blending comfort with a clean, modern aesthetic.
And let me talk about breakfast! The Verse partners with two super trendy local cafés, giving you the option to step out and enjoy breakfast in the neighbourhood or, if you’re in the mood for a slower start, have it delivered straight to your apartment. It’s a small detail that makes the whole stay feel even more effortless and special.
More than anything, this stay reminded us why we love these small escapes so much. Sometimes, all it takes is one night, a different view, and a good reason to celebrate to fall in love with your own city all over again.
And honestly, Lisbon never disappoints.
